It's a well-known fact that the beach is a place of relaxation and healing. The sounds of the ocean, a gentle breeze, the warmth of the sun - it's the best kind of therapy around! It's not surprising that many nonprofit organizations use the seaside to help others.
At Coastal Beach Style we love to give back and are excited to be part of Giving Tuesday. We believe the beach is for everyone, including the sick, the disabled and the terminally ill. The following is a short list of the many causes we support.
Healing Hearts provides a comfortable setting for rest for the weary, encouragement for the heavy-hearted and hope for the discouraged. A place for families battling life threatening illness or disease to spend time with their family and loved ones, pausing for a moment to breathe in the midst of their emotional, physical, spiritual and economic crisis.
The goal of Surfers Healing is simple: they take autistic kids surfing. Many children with autism struggle with sensory overload; in other words, simple sensations can overwhelm them. The weightlessness and rhythms of the ocean offer a therapeutic experience, a respite from the constant assault on their senses.
For six weeks, FACT offers a summer camp in Virginia beach for kids affected by autism. Throughout the rest of the year they organize events for autism families. Their goal is to improve the quality of life for individuals with autism and their families.
